Given that Kuwait is a barren desert country, it relied on fruits and vegetables
imported from neighboring countries. These fresh goods would perish within
hours or days when stored in ordinary warehouses, leading to a shortage of fresh
products and waste of resources. A step had to be taken, and through this
challenge, the seeds of building modern Kuwait were sown. These seeds were
destined to grow into one of the largest companies in the field of air conditioning
and refrigeration in Kuwait and the region. Thus, the Refrigeration Industries
Company was established by an Amiri decree of the State of Kuwait to build
refrigerated warehouses.
The Refrigeration Industries Company was even honored by having one of its achievements depicted on the Kuwaiti currency, with a picture of its first warehouse in Shuwaikh Port on the Kuwaiti half dinar banknote, a true mark of recognition for the positive impact and active contribution of the company to the local economy.
